SLIDE SHOW Volume One
Concentrates on the first ten years of railway nationalisation from
1948-1958 and features many of the Bill Garbett collection of black and
white stills. Bill was born in Birmingham in 1919 and fell in love
with the railways at an early age. After World War II he began
photographing the many different types of locomotives travelling
throughout Britain. His passion for railways is reflected in the quality
of the shots which feature all four of the major regions of British
Railways from a time when steam ruled supreme. This volume comprises
mainly steam engines and the shots are accurately described, with the
occasional comment by Bill Garbett himself. |

Rare Lines, Locomotives, Locations & Liveries
The second half of the 1980's saw a gradual change from the 'corporate
blue' era of British Rail to the numerous liveries and other changes
associated with sectorisation and the lead up to privatisation.
Rare Lines, Locomotives, Liveries and locations is a study of those times
on our network in England, Scotland and Wales and features many unusual
workings. Many of the engines, trains and even locations will never

The Heyday of British Steam Parts 1 - 5
Video technology came too late to record the golden years of Britain's
railways during the steam era, but thanks to a handful of amateur
cameramen armed with 8mm cine cameras, many images of the 'Iron Horse'
have been saved for posterity. This series is a collection of some
of those shots. Part One covers the South Midlands, London and the South
West. Part Two covers the East Midlands and the North East of England.
Part Three covers the Birmingham area, the North Midlands and Central
Wales. Part Four covers the West Midlands and the North of England, and
Part Five covers The Isle of Wight, The London area and Scotland. |

Fifty Fifty Eights
In the mid 1980s British Railways built the fifty class 58 Co-Co diesel
electric freight locomotives. Built at Doncaster these engines were
designed for the heavy "Merry-Go-Round" trains which carried coal from the
collieries or ports of import to he power stations around the clock. With
the decline in coal as a source of fuel, the 58s became deployed in
various other revenue earning freight services. But in 1999, with the new
privatised railway ordering motive power from overseas, the first of the
class went back to Doncaster to be put into store. This video shows every
class member in action, filmed at various locations on the network, when
the class was still intact. |
